Workshops offered at Southeast Aviation Expo

USAerotechThe September 26-27 Southeast Aviation Expo will offer hands on workshops. All workshops will be taught by USAeroTech Institute.  There is no additional cost to attend, but you must register to attend the workshop in advance. Remember, SCAA members receive free admission. Following are descriptions and times for each of the courses.
Don’t forget to bring your family.  A youth track will be offered on Saturday, September 26.
Large Aircraft Systems Workshop
Friday, September 26
1:30-2:20 pm and 3:30-4:20 pm
Small, single engine aircraft systems are relatively simple. Come and find out how the systems on larger aircraft keep the aircraft flying and safe. We will cover, hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, engines, fuel and more. Session concludes with a tour of a Boeing 727 aircraft.
Navigation: How Do I Get There?

2:30 pm – 3:20 pm and 4:30 pm – 5:20 pm
Ever been lost (and without a GPS)? An aircraft is constantly moving and it’s not easy to pull over to ask for directions. Learn how to navigate while flying using a compass and plotter. You will be able to figure out “Where am I” and “How do I get there.”
Sparks and Electricity Workshop – YOUTH track

Did you know there are three types of electricity? We will discover the different types, how we use them daily, and how they help an aircraft fly. See some of the many electrical aircraft components function using these different electrical sources.
Let’s Go Flying Workshop – YOUTH track

1:50 – 3:30 pm
ages 13-19
Ever wonder what keeps an aircraft flying, or how it is controlled? This session will teach the basics of aerodynamics, flight controls, instruments and communications. The workshop concludes with a walk-around of several different aircraft including a Boeing 727.
