Held during South Carolina Aviation Week, this event reaffirms Triple Tree Aerodrome’s position as the global leader in youth aviation programming and celebrates South Carolina’s distinction as the first state in the nation to officially recognize a State Champion for flight at the high school level.

The Competition: Line-Oriented Flight Training (LOFT)
AviCom-South Carolina utilizes a sophisticated format mirrored after Line-Oriented Flight Training (LOFT), the same rigorous standard used by commercial airlines to train professional pilots.

Students do not merely “fly”; they are tested on the complex pillars of professional airmanship, including:

  • Flight and Ground Simulation
  • Precision Navigation & Weather Analysis
  • Situational Awareness & Critical Decision-Making
  • Aircraft Performance Planning

Competitors will vie for the prestigious title of “State Champion”—a distinction unique to South Carolina, alongside thousands of dollars in scholarships.

Celebrating the U.S. 250th Anniversary
In honor of the United States’ Semiquincentennial, the 2026 competition will feature eight scenario-based challenges set across iconic American landmarks. These immersive missions offer students a realistic training experience while celebrating the rich history of American flight.
