SCAA Supports Adding “Aviation Activities” to SC Recreational Use Statute

Triple TreeSCAA supports the passage of H.4673 which adds “aviation activities” into the SC Recreational Use statute.  Kathy Hegenberger has led the charge in having this added into law. Hegenberger who is also a apart of the Recreational Aviation Foundation has watched other states embrace this legislation.  “This is just one more step to South Carolina being an aviation friendly state.,” said Hegenberger. Practically, the law would limit the liability of property owners for aviation activities occurring on their property.

SCAA President Don Purcell and Treasurer Merrill Donahoo attended the Special Laws Subcommittee hearing on Wednesday, March 27 to show the association’s support of adding this language. The subcommittee voted in favor of the legislation and it will now be reviewed in the Judiciary Committee.

The association will continue to support this legislation and appreciates Kathy Hegenberger for her efforts to move this forward.
