Charleston Safety Seminar: Interruptions and Distractions – Managing Risks
January 18, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) Representative Scott Newsome discusses one aspect of Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM): dealing with distractions and interruptions, two hazards that one needs to manage whenever walking, driving a vehicle or flying a plane.
Newsome will cite some statistics on distracted driving and discuss how distraction led to the loss of an airliner. He’ll also cover about interruptions –– a type of distraction that can be a significant hazard when it occurs in a critical operational phase. The presentation will feature suggestions and best practices for dealing with distractions and interruptions.
