Airports in South Carolina support the state’s economy and are themselves economic generators. Residents, businesses, and the state’s visitors also rely on the airport system for health, welfare, and safety needs. All types of businesses in South Carolina rely on aviation and commercial service and general aviation airports for the efficient transport of people and goods.
The South Carolina Aviation Association (SCAA) is proud to announce the SCAA Ambassadors Passport Program. The program is designed to encourage pilots to fly to all of the airports in South Carolina and visit aviation seminars and the Southeast Aviation Expo. We plan to increase awareness of South Carolina’s aviation system and contribute to the economic development activities of each locality by getting pilots to fly to airports and events they may not normally visit.
The Southeast Aviation Expo provides pilots from around the southern region a showcase of the latest products on the market as well as offer education on the products being marketed. The event is always open to anyone interested in aviation. Companies that sell aviation products as well as aviation services are invited to exhibit at the show.
General Aviation repair and parts sales tax was previously 6% in the state of South Carolina. As a result, many repair jobs were sent off to surrounding Southern states. With overall costs lowered, this bill will truly enhance general aviation in South Carolina and support it’s economic development.
The SCAA maintains a calendar of aviation events in South Carolina and nationally. Visit the calendar page to view the list of upcoming events in aviation. You can also submit your event to be placed on our calendar.
A recent Ericsson survey found that 35% of people in the US use their mobile apps before they even start their day each morning. SCAA’s mobile app offers another channel to interact with the aviation community with information on events, legislative efforts and access to videos.
It is the mission of the SC Aeronautics Commission to foster air commerce by overseeing the safety and development of the state’s public use airports and provide safe, reliable air transportation for state government and business prospects. SCAA is proud to support and promote the SC Aeronautics Commission.
